Who’s Who’s Who? A Global Real Estate Network That Has Become Personal

Editorial
This week, I am the Featured Professional on LuxuryRealEstate.com, but the recognition is only part of the story. My longtime affiliation with Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate and the Board of Regents gives my sellers added global exposure while connecting my clients with trusted real estate advisors around the world. Over the years, conferences, international symposiums and even the annual ski trip have turned professional relationships into genuine friendships, making this network both a business resource and a personal one.

This week, I am the Featured Professional on LuxuryRealEstate.com, which is a lovely recognition. More importantly, it gives me an opportunity to answer a question I am asked from time to time:

What exactly is Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate?

The simplest answer is that it is a global network of accomplished real estate professionals. But after many years as a member, I know it as something much more personal than that. Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate has brought me into rooms, and taken me to places around the world, with real estate advisors who understand the level of responsibility that comes with representing significant properties and the people who own them. We have learned together, shared ideas, toured remarkable homes and markets, and, yes, had a great deal of fun along the way. Over time, many of these professional relationships have become genuine friendships. That matters to me, but it also matters to my clients.

What Is Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate?

Founded in 1986, Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate is an international network of leading independent brokers and real estate professionals. LuxuryRealEstate.com connects buyers, sellers and real estate advisors with properties and professionals throughout the world. Membership is not simply about placing a logo on a website. The value is found in the relationships among members, the exchange of market knowledge, the opportunities to learn from peers, and the ability to reach trusted professionals well beyond one’s own market.

When a client asks me about real estate in another state or another country, I do not have to begin with a general internet search and hope I find the right person. In many cases, I already know someone. I may have attended a conference with them, toured properties with them, shared a meal with them, traveled with them or spent enough time with them to understand how they conduct their business. Likewise, when another member has a client considering Arizona, they can reach out to someone they know here.

That is where a global network becomes useful on a very local and personal level.

What Does My Regents Membership Mean for Sellers?

Within Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate is the Board of Regents, a select group of professionals recognized for their leadership, experience and longstanding success within their markets.

As a Regents member, my listings priced above $500,000 are included in the Regents Showcase. When someone searches LuxuryRealEstate.com for properties in an Arizona city represented by one of my listings, those properties receive top placement on the website. For a seller, that creates another meaningful layer of exposure.

A home is still marketed first and foremost through thoughtful presentation, accurate positioning, compelling photography and video, strategic outreach, and strong representation within the local market. A global affiliation does not replace any of that. It extends it.

Regents properties receive preferred placement on a website created specifically for people exploring distinctive homes and markets around the world. That does not mean every buyer for an Arizona home will come from another country. Many will not. But today’s buyers may already own homes in multiple places, be relocating from another market, be searching on behalf of family members or discover Arizona while exploring possibilities they had not initially considered.

The goal is not to make a listing appear global merely for the sake of saying that it is. The goal is to make sure the property can be found wherever the right buyer may be looking.

The Value You Cannot Always See on a Listing Page

Some of the most important benefits of this affiliation are not visible online. They happen when I call a colleague because a client is considering a home in another city. They happen when an advisor from outside Arizona contacts me about the Scottsdale market. They happen during conference sessions when we compare what buyers are responding to, how properties are being presented and what is changing in markets far beyond our own. Real estate may be local, but our clients’ lives rarely stay within a single ZIP code.

People move for work, family, weather, lifestyle and opportunity. They purchase second homes. They sell a longtime residence and begin looking somewhere entirely new. They may need advice in Arizona today and assistance in Denver, Seattle, Mexico or Europe tomorrow.

A strong professional network allows me to help make those transitions more informed and more personal.

The Relationships Are Built Over Time

I have been affiliated with Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate since 2016. During that time, I have attended conferences and events in places ranging from the Bahamas and Aspen to Beverly Hills, Seattle and Charlotte.

The annual International Symposium has also taken us farther afield, including memorable gatherings in Verona and Barcelona. These are not simply meetings held in attractive destinations. We spend time learning about the local market, touring properties, hearing from professionals with different perspectives and discussing the challenges we are each seeing in our businesses.

Then there is the annual ski trip, which anyone who knows me will understand is a particular highlight. It is certainly fun, but it is also another example of how professional relationships become stronger when people have the opportunity to spend real time together. You learn quite a bit about someone in a conference room. You may learn even more riding a chairlift, navigating a mountain or sitting together at the end of the day.

These shared experiences create relationships that are difficult to replicate through an online directory or an occasional email. When I refer a client to another member, or when another member refers someone to me, there is often a history behind that introduction. We know one another beyond a name and a professional biography.

Learning From Other Markets

One of the benefits I value most is the opportunity to learn from advisors who operate in very different places. What is happening in Scottsdale may be different from what a colleague is experiencing in Seattle, Denver, London or the Bahamas. Yet the questions our clients ask, the expectations they bring and the responsibility we carry are often very similar. We compare how buyers are behaving, how sellers are preparing their homes, which marketing ideas are producing results and how changes in one market may eventually influence another.

Those conversations often shape the way I think about my own business. They remind me to look beyond what everyone around me is already doing and to consider what may be possible. The benefit ultimately comes home with me and becomes part of how I advise and represent my clients in Arizona.

Looking Ahead

Later this month, I will visit the Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate headquarters in Seattle. In September, I will travel to Denver for the fall conference. I will come home with new ideas, a broader understanding of what is happening in other markets and, most likely, a few stories from time spent with people I have known for years. That is the part of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate that means the most to me.

The website provides additional visibility. The Regents Showcase gives my sellers’ properties preferred placement. The conferences and symposiums provide education and perspective. The referrals allow clients to move beyond Arizona with the help of someone I know and trust. But beneath all of it is a network of real people who know one another, enjoy one another and are willing to answer the phone when a client needs help.

Being named this week’s Featured Professional is an honor. More importantly, it gives me the chance to explain that this longstanding affiliation is not simply recognition of the work I have done. It is a business relationship, a personal one and one more way I can put meaningful relationships, international reach and trusted real estate experience to work for my clients.
